Developing AI Tools for Environmental Permitting and Compliance
ARKIA Environmental Solutions is a technology startup focused on developing explainable AI tools for environmental permitting and compliance. We are actively conducting research to automate regulatory interpretation and expert-judgment pathways using hybrid rule-based and machine-learning approaches. Our platform supports consultants and facilities by providing prototype tools and workflows based on ongoing R&D efforts.
Our current prototype supports early testing of new technology for air permitting and compliance. As we continue developing our AI-driven regulatory reasoning engine, the platform is being designed to:
• estimate emissions using equipment information and AP-42 methods
• identify potential permit pathways based on regulatory thresholds
• screen federal and state rules to flag applicability questions
• explore control technology options using BACT/LAER research inputs
• organize compliance requirements and timelines
• generate draft reports to support permit preparation
This prototype is part of our ongoing research to automate regulatory interpretation and expert-judgment steps. The tools are being developed to support consultants, facility managers, and environmental teams by providing clearer, more consistent permitting guidance as the research progresses.
We are developing tools that make complex air permitting rules easier to interpret. Our technology is designed to support consistent decisions by combining real project experience with ongoing research.
We build and test software features that improve emissions calculations, reporting, and permit planning. Our goal is to create reliable tools that facilities and consultants can use with confidence.
Every operation is different. We focus on developing solutions that work in real-world settings, informed by research and tailored to industry needs.
We’re a small, dedicated team focused on developing new technology to support environmental permitting and compliance. With experience in air quality, environmental science, and regulatory analysis, we combine technical knowledge with real project work to build tools that improve the permitting process. Our goal is to create clear, practical solutions that can be used in real-world settings while we continue advancing the research behind our platform.
